Legacy Outfitters wasn’t something we had perfectly mapped out—it’s something that grew on us over time. With roots running deep in agriculture but a passion for outdoors, somewhere along the way, the conversation shifted from what we were doing to what we’d leave behind. With our kids watching it all unfold, that started to mean something different. This store became part of that answer.

The name took a while. We went through just about everything you can imagine—creek names, red hills, anything with an arrowhead—but we kept coming back to one word: Legacy. Not the polished version you’d find in a dictionary, but the real one. Family. Hard work. Community. What’s still standing long after you’re gone. Not just for us, but for the people around us too.

Dixie, Georgia made that easy. It’s not the kind of place that tries to impress you, but it leaves its mark on you long after you're gone. That hometown feeling shapes everything we do. It gives us the freedom to run this business the way we believe it should be run: honest, welcoming, and built on relationships, not transactions.

We were pretty clear on what we didn’t want this to be. We didn’t want a store that forgot where it came from, and we didn’t want to be the kind of place that expects loyalty without earning it. That kind of arrogance doesn’t sit well with us. Around here, everyone’s welcome, and respect goes both ways. Simple as that.

If you walk in for the first time, you’ll probably notice the full-body lion mount before anything else– it’s hard to miss. But what we hope stands out more is the atmosphere. We believe in fair deals, real conversations, and working with people however we can. Whether that’s helping with a trade, tracking something down, or just making sure you leave feeling good about what you got, we’ll take the extra time. 

This isn’t a one-person operation either. There’s a whole group behind the scenes, family and team, handling everything from stocking shelves to building relationships with the brands we carry. It’s always been a shared effort, and that’s exactly how we want to keep it.

Looking ahead, we’re not planning to stay small. We see this growing into something bigger: multiple locations, more services, a place where you can come for just about anything you need. But growth only means something if we do it right. For us, that looks like building something solid, taking care of people along the way, and being able to say we did it the honest way.

At the end of the day, we’re not just here to sell gear. We’re here to build something that lasts. If we’ve done that right, you won’t just remember what you bought here– you’ll remember how you were treated, the atmosphere, the memories you made, and you’ll come back because of it.
